新加坡人，生於西元1967年。
二十餘歲因雙親相繼往生，念老病死苦而開始學佛。
2000年赴台就讀佛光山叢林學院，求學期間奠定了往解脫道方向修行。
2004年進入花蓮佛教解脫道研修所，專修看話參禪，不定時閉關，於2008年畢業。
期間跟隨慧門禪師到世界各地弘揚禪法並擔任維那一職。
2011年應邀到新加坡、馬來西亞、中國大陸各地指導禪修至今。
2013年接慧門禪師法脈，嗣臨濟宗43世名慧源，曹洞49世名騰清，

Venerable Yen Zhong is a Singaporean born in 1967. He became interested in Buddhism in his twenties after experiencing the passing of his parents and has a great keenness to realise the truth behind the suffering of old age, sickness and death.
In 2000, Ven. Yen Zhong travelled to Taiwan to study at the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist College, and in the process, he developed an unwavering resolute and determination to follow the path of enlightenment.
In 2004, he then moved to the Hualien to attend The Buddhist Vimutti-Magga Institute, where he focused on the Kanhua Can Chan meditation practise and Chan Buddhism studies. He went into frequent closed-door retreats to deepen the practice. Ven. Yen Zhong graduated from the college in 2008.
During his studies, he followed Chan Master Hui Men to various parts of the world to spread the Chan Buddhism teachings and served as the Instructor monk for the meditation retreats.
Since 2011, he has been invited to lead meditation retreats held in Singapore, Malaysia, and multiple provinces in China.
In 2013, he received the Dharma transmission from Master Hui Men, becoming the 43rd generation Dharma heir in the Linji lineage and the 49th generation Dharma heir of the Caodong school of Chan Buddhism.
